Well you will never believe if I tell ya. But you are going to have to. We built 3 gardens over the past week and a half. Two are in front, about 12'X5' and 16'X5' and the one in back is about 17'X5'. The ones is front already had the retaining walls built on them, and the little one already had the dirt.
So the little one was easy. Terry next door was thinning out one of her 14 gardens (no exaggeration) and brought over a bunch of stuff for the one.
I started working on the second one, and had to pull these humongous weeds out. I actually had to use a regular size shovel to dig the roots out of this side. So I did that and then Scott went and got more dirt and we filled that in. We planted flowers from seeds over there, and I am patiently (more on that in a minute) waiting for them to grow.
The third garden is in back, and it is going to be my vegetable garden. We had to start that one from scratch. Fortunately, Mike next door, had a tiller and we were able to just till the grass up in that spot. Then Scott laid out railroad ties for the boundaries and we had to fill with dirt.
Now the garden (flower bed?) up front, my little seedlings started to produce tiny little sprouts as of this weekend. Yay!! It is so cool, being able to see these things grow. The garden in back, I placed vegetables. Now seeing it is kinda late in the planting season, I purchased started tomato and pepper plants. Three tomato, 2 green pepper and 2 red pepper plants. I also purchased a watermelon, just to see what would happen and a grape vine for the same reason. I did buy some seedlings. Carrots and green onions (I have ideas on how to run these next year) and then I had to do sunflowers. I think the carrots and green onions are just about to pop through, I could see two baby baby plants kinda pushing up last night. Now the sunflowers. 7 of my 10 have popped through, and it is the neatest thing. It is so cool to see this stuff growing. Whats funny about the sunflowers, is the little spudlings where popping up with the seed casings stuck on the leaves, hehe.
Scotts computer died. The motherboard fried. Not surprising considering the overheating problems we have been having. So Scott built frakenputer with the two computers (the one that died and my old one). He hopes to get a new one this winter. We shall see. The only is the old motherboard would not take the new hard drive, so we have to see if it will work on my new computer, and I will use it as a slave drive. I would not be so concerned if Scott had not just ripped all our cd's onto it, and then all our pictures are on it. bah.
